I just encountered a big problem with the iPhone, and was alerted (or, really, reminded) of another problem that I want to talk about here. So, here are two problems to be aware of with the iphone.

As I was at work on Friday, plugging away, minding my own business, my Gmail notifier popped up on my computer screen informing me that a Yahoo! news article had been forwarded to me by Ces. The title was “Buffy fans bemoan demise of…”
Now, I was ready to kill Ces. I mean, I’ve been trying to keep up on my Buffy Season 8 comics, but I am a few behind being that the boys plunged me into the glorious world of His Dark Materials. (I only have one chapter left of The Subtle Knife, and I can’t believe I actually came to work instead of staying home to finish it.) Ces should know by now how I am about spoilers! How could he send me something like that?! Did they kill Xander? Willow? Did they decide that Dawn’s ability to annoy was relative to her size and the only way to deal with the 30-foot version was to put us all out of our misery?! Oh, God! Now, I can’t even look at my e-mail until I catch up. God damn you, Ces!!!!

In my new-found love of Halo 3, I thought, as the lone girl of the PlasmaSplasm household, that I might perform what may be a public service to some. Who knows? I may even save a few relationships here. So, here it is, boys. My top 10 list of how to get your girlfriend to play and love Halo!
(All of the below refers to on-line play only.)
10. Start with the basics. This may cost you a little bit of money, but it will be worth it. Let your girl create her own Halo character and let her choose pink if that’s what she wants. Your instinct may be to advise her against it because it will make her a more visible target or because it’s gay. Just go with it. Yes, she will be the most visible target on Snowbound and most other levels, but who gives a shit? It’s not “gay” and your buddies won’t think any less of you. Let your girl embrace her girliness. Besides, there’s a surprising amount of pink players out there. Your girl won’t be alone. And your girl will have an immense amount of satisfaction by slowly earning her own little bars and achievements.
9. Don’t trash-talk your girl. It is already more-than-established that you are and always will be MUCH better than her at Halo and most other video games. Trash-talk the guys all you want, but leave your girlfriend alone. Also, just because she trash-talks you doesn’t mean you have the go-ahead to dish it back. If she gets lucky enough to actually kill you once or twice, let her have her moment.
8. Be proud of her. Whenever she doesn’t come in last in Slayer, if she manages to kill the Juggernaut, control the hill or capture the ball, these are all achievements.

God-damn Cesare finally has more hollywood money than me, and it’s driving me nuts.
The internet has a plethora of different silly ways to make time go a little faster when you need it to. In a couple earlier posts I talked about the ball game, which is a great way to blow some time. Now I’m going to let you in on another great sight: The Hollywood Stock Exchange.
HSX is a deeply scummy sight, rife with banner ads and a general feeling of trashiness, which ends up making it all the more fun. Here’s the pitch from hsx.com:
HSX is just like the real stock market, only way more fun!
Buy shares of your favorite actors and their new movies. Watch their values rise or fall based on their success. Prices soar with a blockbuster opening at the box office and plummet with a bomb no one went to see.
So, basically, it’s like fantasy football for people who care more about movies than football. Unless of course it’s a movie about football, and then stuff gets confusing.

A lot of people have been writing in with the news that VW is going to be making an effort to go green, and our friends at Treehugger have written a little piece about it, read it here (SFW)
My last two cars have been VWs and I have to say that I’ve got a little bit of a concern about the hybridization of their line.
